SAY HELLO TO THIS MONTH’S
Guest ARTISTS
Vica- SoullLines // I aim to explore and invite people to dive into the essence of the human experience. My art dances between the cosmic realms and the earth realms, just like I find myself doing often. Ranging from the lands of moss, fairies, and mushrooms to aliens, ufos, and cosmic consciousness. My studies were based in environmental science and holistically living alongside mother earth and her inhabitants. The simple yet complex nature of the earth systems have always fascinated me. I attempt to capture her not so linear beauty and law of connection. I play with pyrography, digital art, paint, and pen mostly, with paint landing on not just a canvas, but terracotta pottery, wood, clothes, and more. I am a self taught artist from Colorado, who is filled with immense gratitude to finally be sharing my art with the world. Namaste.
Chelsea Delanie // Chelsea Delanie is a self-taught artist from Northern Colorado. Chelsea works primarily with oil paint. Her artwork often depicts the creatures, plants and nuances of the natural world with a mystical twist, communicating a deep reverence for the divine energetic presence of all living things.
Silverthaw Jewelry // Erin Greenberg creates whimsical jewelry pieces out of silver and gemstones. She has a degree in Computer Science and works in software by day and silver by night, using jewelry design as her creative outlet. Erin is a lifelong avid reader and is inspired most by romantic and magical/fantasy themes. She is constantly learning new techniques and dabbling in different styles, though she consistently returns to magical, whimsical motifs. She loves incorporating color and texture into her work and collects gemstones like a dragon. She is originally from Louisiana and now lives in Fort Collins with her two cats, Minnie and Bobo.
Jaz Binger // My art seeks to explore emotions and ideas. By immersing myself in art history I recognize my place in the canon of artists. Through use of techniques and conceptual ideas developed by the masters, I hope to further art history in my own way.
Jesse Schlicker // With a CA Gold Country childhood to develop an early respect for nature, Jesse grew up exploring the abundance of life that surrounded him. There were many forms of art in the Schlicker household but none as ever-present as music. His father’s Les Paul singing through the pine trees, leading Jesse’s adventurous spirit to express itself freely, unabashed. He graduated with honors from SAE Institute in Rotterdam, Netherlands as an Audio Engineer and has performed on stages around the world. He carries this passion, fostered by those that love him, guiding his inner self wherever he goes.
Mycelium grows underground and designs a network, before ever fruiting mushrooms. Whisper Sister is the new budding fruit of an underground ear. Using all weapons and tools in their goal of pure expression. No leaders, only god in the room with a knife in her teeth. "And it's only just begun." Artwork by Liz Ortiz @madharepress
Hannah Miner // Hannah is a watercolor artist based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her practice follows an approach concerning the aspects of life, death, humanity, and spirituality through the use of various beasts in the form of spirits. Her interest in Native American religion and psychology fuels her concentration on life and death using unusual, psychological elements. While Hannah was raised in a religious setting, she had a huge interest in science, and nature as a child. Currently, while she is no longer religious, she believes that the world couldn’t exist without natural science and the evolution behind it, yet she is still interested in the idea of other-worldly beings coexisting either in the same world or a parallel world. This along with her interest in animism fuels her inspiration to create.
memaaderugs // Hi! My name is Autumn and I am a textile artist. I create hand tufted rugs and knitwear! I love working with fibers and putting my attention to detail into each piece I make. Whether it's a rug or a knit item, I strive to make my creations both practical and beautiful works of art. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my art!
Amy Powell Art // Walking through the woods with my daughters, we don’t make it more than a few feet before one of them stops to admire a rock/leaf/acorn. They admire even the plainest pieces of nature and inspire me with their awed eyes. I create art that expresses the sacred feminine and the beauty of the natural world. I flow between large scale oil paintings and delicate watercolor illustrations and feature portraits, animals, and natural elements such as mushrooms, moths, feathers, and bones.
A_boldartist // I am a self-taught artist who enjoys using all different types of medium. Majority of my paintings are done with oil or acrylic, but I do also enjoy, using my hands with clay or crafting to create unique pieces. Some of the artwork I recently have been focused on is bringing mental health awareness to the forefront since I myself suffer with anxiety, but I also love to incorporate elements of our environment, animals, and silly characters. My friends would say my style of painting is influenced by flash art in the tattoo community.
Ryan Stover // Ryan Stover's vivid watercolors and complex ink drawings celebrate the beauty of nature and the paradox of human experience. Ry's work is overflowing with energy and colors that are wild and free – yet bound and balanced by bold black lines. His work is a visual meditation on holding on and letting go: Going with the flow... while being aware of doing so.
Hypnagogist // Hypnagogist is multimedia visionary artist hailing from Columbus, Ohio, specializing in 3D animation, traditional painting, art installations, and mixed media fusions of the aforementioned works. Hypnagogia is the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, and Hypnagogist's work reflects that with colorful and surreal imagery, pulling from conscious and unconscious states.
Kim Nigro // I am a retired school teacher who works in a meditative and natural organic frame that reminds us of the beauty of life. I paint Goddess Artwork to promote the diversity and strength of women all over the world while reusing and reinventing things such as canvas and paint. My paintings include recycled paint and canvas representing the perseverance of women as they struggle to be free. My most often works use motivational words and imagery, sealing the thoughts into the message of the painting in hopes of inspiring those who view the work. I invite you to vie these abstract energy paintings and share how you experience life now and how it may look in the future.
On The Road Bookstore // On The Road Bookstore is a traveling bookshop based in Fort Collins, Colorado, offering local book fair events in the Northern Colorado area, online shopping, and audiobooks. It was started by author and avid reader Megan Maulsby (pen name Meg Murray) in 2022. Rolling book carts are filled with both new and used books, all of very high quality and personally curated by Megan. We carry all genres and feature underrepresented authors and stories. We also carry bookish accessories like: magnetic bookmarks, bookish stickers & magnets, adult coloring books, journals, and bean bag bookends.
Aerica Raven // Aerica Raven’s multidisciplinary career is marked by murals, illustrations, and immersive environments designed to excite the imagination. Drawing inspiration from fact and fiction alike, she explores human issues in mental health, subjective karma, and natural selection.
Xavier Pereira // Xavier’s works can be characterized by punchy dabs of paint; they are motivated by personal observations and sentimental experiences shared with others- utilizing concepts that expand upon sensory impressions. Using his art as a form of meditation, he finds peace in letting the world fade away while narrowing focus on the minute details throughout the canvas. Also a mechanical engineer, he lets his experience in creative problem solving take shape in his art. This has allowed for a unique perspective across disciplines, culminating in an intuitive approach that is calculated, yet venturous.
Julie Hoponick // Riding the wave of rediscovering creativity through the physicality of glass work, pigments in paint, and diversity of digital art. Mostly self taught been expanding my skills with the help of friends here in town and as far away as Singapore. I enjoy colors, lines, illustrating and most of all seeing other people have happiness from something I’ve created!
Abstruse Apparel // I’m originally from New York and most recently California, where I retired from teaching middle school wood shop in 2021. I immediately moved to Fort Collins and started Abstruse Apparel upcycling used clothing with a message. I work with shoes to hats and everything in-between. I also create digital art messaging. I will be hosting a Collaborative Message Challenge each First Friday! Stop by and write down a creative message you would like to see turned into apparel or digital art. The following First Friday the selected design will be on display and the winner can pickup the item at the end of the evening for FREE! Let’s change the world together, one stitch at a time! Abstruse Apparel’s work is available at Funktional: A Space For Radical Reuse on 1228 W. Elizabeth Street in Fort Collins.
Molly Moonchild // I make weird art for weird people out of my home in Loveland, Colorado. I’m in my mid-thirties and am finally making art that teenage me would be proud of - I’m here and I’m weird and I didn’t sell out to the man.
Eli Crocker // My name is Eli Crocker and I’m a geology major at CSU. While I’ve always loved rocks, I’ve also always had a passion for art. It’s been such an important part of my life and it allows me to let out my emotions in a creative way. Showing what I feel is important to me because I want to connect with others who feel similarly. Art is all about interpreting what you see. My goal is to get my viewers to feel something when looking at my work. Many of my pieces reflect on transphobia, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Joey da Rat // I’m Joey and I draw rats. I started drawing in 2021 and first showed my work in Fort Collins in Summer of 2022. I try to give people a break from the seriousness of the world while still biting back at it with my rats, and with my oil pastels I try to show the beauty in the horror of the 21st century. I’m excited to unleash my goofy monstrosities on the you all! It’ll be fun don’t worry! :)
Chelsea Ermer // Hello. My name is Chelsea Ermer and I am an artist, reader and teacher. My work spans many different mediums from pen and ink, to gouche, to digital and Procreate art. Recently my work has been focused upon creating bookmarks for a variety of books. I also take commissions for pet portraits and bookmarks. I have also been fortunate enough to create murals for the city and you can find several of my Transformer cabinets around town. Overall, I love creating beautiful things in whatever medium I can get my hands on.
Ish Heredia // I’m Ish Heredia, a Fort Collins based, indigenous artist primarily drawing and painting animals digitally. I will do this til the day I die. Which hopefully isn't around the corner.
Allison Harvey with Pieces of Childhood // I love anything that is unique and makes a statement. I get asked often about where I get my earrings or planters so I decided to give this crafting thing a try and spread the love of creepy fun toys being used in art.
Linda Roth // Linda Roth graduated from CSU with a BFA and an Art Education degree. While working as a freelance and public works artist for over 20 years, she also owns and operates Walnut Creek and The Merchant Room Gallery, in Fort Collins, since 2014. Influenced by her experiences as a single, widowed, mother of 3, an art advocate and educator, Linda is an accomplished artist in a variety of subjects and mediums. Her primary work focuses on her passion to encourage and promote women. Their need for gender equality, answers to continued cultural marginalization and abuse in all facets of our world today..
Mossy Cows // My name is Miriam, and I created Mossy Cows! I have always loved animals and science and adorable things, and since I started working in a rock shop, my art has come to consist of the merging of all my favorite things. I mostly make stickers and a few art prints, and have started branching out into keychains!
Amanda Bushere Designs // My name is Amanda or Panda of Amanda Bushere Designs. I create digital art prints & UV paintings! My work has always been a vehicle to portray my connection to the Universe. My theme has ranged from galactic fantasy landscapes to the bodies of elemental dust that makes up a galaxy. My work has evolved to different dimensions and I have been playing around with how to portray this in an art piece. This has been my passion to connect the viewer to the Universe through my artwork. To help bring awareness so they can find their own connection.
Scott Lenaway // I feel the impact of a given object is how it is rendered. An object can be implied by marks. There should be an aspect of the mystical and unknown in how an object is rendered.
Mila Solo // Mila is a Ukrainian artist over 25 years of experience and now resides in the USA as a war refugee. She narrowly escaped after her studio in Ukraine was destroyed during a military attack losing her life’s work in the process and now resides in Fort Collins, Colorado. She skilfully uses multi-layered techniques to convey both volume and states in abstract painting. The concept of art is to create a multi-dimensional picture. Ambiguous and emotional. Art is the way to express emotions, experiences, awareness and composition on canvas. Each painting contains a deep and multifaceted meaning of philosophy and beauty of the world. This is reflection of our experiences, spiritual development and knowledge of the universe. Each work is unique and has a special message to the viewer.
Morgan's Art and Creations // My love for art started at a very young age (as it does for a lot of kiddos!) I had started by drawing cartoons and anime styles. By the time I was in high school, I took EVERY art class I could! Anything from drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, photography, you name it! Now, I work at Pinot's Palette as a painting instructor. My personal art has shifted to express the idea of self love, and finding beauty where you'd least expect it. Life is full of beauty, even in it's darkest or most simplistic forms. I've also grown a passion for painting space and galaxies, because I think we all deserve to let our heads float in the sky from time to time. Thank you for taking the time to see a different point of view, never stop dreaming.
Meld&Heal // Erin Fritts has been fascinated with the shapes and treasures of nature for as long as she can remember. She has also explored the healing qualities of art and its ability to reveal unconscious aspects of the self and the inner world. She has found herself drawn to metal casting as both an artistic medium and a facilitator of personal growth. In the past, alchemists attempted to transform metals to gold; the melting of metal being a facilitator of change. Metal casting is a similar healing process for Erin; a symbol of the change within - hence her artist name, Meld&Heal. Erin additionally loves to draw and paint, and created a 78-card tarot deck called Unconscious Tarot. Erin works as an art handler and taxidermist in Laporte, and fills her free time with plenty of metal casting, a daily hot yoga practice, and trail runs with her husband, Chris. Erin was born and raised in New York, and now lives with her husband Chris and her cat Applesauce in Fort Collins, Colorado.
John Butler // My Name is John Butler, I work mostly in the digital media platform. Having a life long interest in the arts with a strong background in computers and software led me to develop a unique style of portraiture over the years. Much of my recent works are inspired by "The Sandman", and Twin Peaks. I try to capture the cosmic essence, higher self or alter-ego of the subjects in my work.
desvu // Originally from Ukraine, equally loves two things - science and music. She studies evolutionary biology of fungi and plays techno. desvu's journey into electronic music has began with trance music in her hometown Kyiv in 2007. After moving to US in 2014 she quickly developed passion towards techno music. Since then DesVu has been a part of underground techno seen in the western US. Influenced by pioneers of techno genre, such as Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, and others, she immediately and forever fell in love with acid techno, a genre of techno music developed from 1980s to 1990s. In her dj sets, desvu often mixes acid techno with trance and techno trance, thus creating uplifting, explosive, and fast-beat atmosphere on a dance floor.
Jules // I am the kind of person who loves to evolve and try new ways of expressing myself. I started out with sketching then turned that into intricate drawings. I took a few years off of anything having to do with creativity because I felt stuck. I finally found some inspiration at the beginning of this year and decided I wanted to get started in stained glass. That has evolved in its own way and I love this direction I am now headed in.
MCCB // Hi! I'm Madeline Bechtel and I'm a local graphic designer and illustration artist known as MCCB. Other work includes graphic design for The City of Fort Collins and branding, illustration, and environmental graphic design services through MCCB Design. Available for hire/commission.
The Goblin Den // Hi, my name is Mag. My work includes collage, decoupage, and other visual arts. I began collaging when the collective existential crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic motivated me to explore artistic outlets. The creativity inspired by the randomness of thrifted, secondhand, and found objects is essential to my work and aligns with a personal commitment to walking on this Earth as gently as possible.
