SAY HELLO TO THIS MONTH’S
Guest ARTISTS
Justin Clements: Artistic Reflections Featured Artist, Petrichor Collective Gallery, November - December, 2023 Fort Collins, Colorado, is not just the place where Justin Clements was born and raised; it's where his Art found its first roots. Encouraged by his parents from a young age, Justin's early affinity for Art was more than just a pastime—it was a growing passion. During his school years, Justin consistently showed a strong inclination towards Art, standing out in his classes for his natural talent and dedication. His journey didn't stop after college. Eager to explore deeper, Justin ventured to Tuscany, where he immersed himself in the study of sculpture and painting. This period marked a significant development in his style and technique. Today, Justin's paintings are a testament to fine art and originality, reflecting an old-world style that resonates with viewers. His works have made their way into various collections, both in corporate settings and private homes, speaking to a wide range of art enthusiasts. On a personal note, Justin's life is anchored by his family. He married Renee Wilkins in 2004, and their union has been blessed with three children, Paul,Ben, and Amanda. His family life, full of love and support, undoubtedly influences his Art, bringing a sense of warmth and intimacy to his work. As we welcome Justin Clements to the Petrichor Collective Gallery this season, we invite you to experience his Art—a reflection of his life's journey and his continuous exploration of the world through his works.
Grace Payne // I am an abstract artist from Hot Springs, Arkansas. My artwork is heavily influenced by nature and my spiritual connection to the earth. I like to incorporate other mediums, like sand and stone, into my paintings to create texture as well as strengthen the relationship the between the artwork itself and nature. Many of my paintings have greek names, I have always been a big fan of Greek Mythology and the romance and intense emotions portrayed throughout Greek history and the arts. My artwork is a way for me to connect to the earth and the universe as well as release my emotions and gain mental clarity, my hope is that others who view my work will feel this as well.
Renee the Baker // I'm a local, Fort Collins baker specializing in seasonal pies! In addition to vending at the Larimer County Farmers Market and Timnath Farmers' Market, I accept special orders and run a monthly pie subscription. I am increasingly focused on using the local food chain for as many of my raw ingredients as possible and developing my business in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Lucy Powers // Hello there! I'm Lucy, a Costa Rican book illustrator with a flair for capturing the magic of children's stories. Through my work I seek to create a way into a world of wonder through the eyes of a child. My prefer mediums to work go from the delicate flow of watercolors to the precision of digital art and the tactile intimacy of pencils.Often, I find myself weaving these mediums together into a harmonious blend that adds depth and dimension to my illustrations, making each piece a unique visual tapestry. My ultimate goal is to not only illustrate stories for the little ones but to touch the inner child within all of us, evoking a sense of nostalgia and joy. By sharing my creations, I hope to kindle a warm familiarity and bring a delightful emotional resonance to my audience.
Lucas Archuleta // Hey there I'm some dude who can draw stuff. For the most part, ink illustrations are my go-to. Thus far, I've found comfort in a colorless world, focusing heavily on the detail and line work. I’m pretty driven by my emotions when creating a piece most of the time, but I also draw inspiration from stuff that I just think is neat. I hope you’ll give my weird little drawings a gander.
Abstruse Apparel // Retired wood shop teacher from New York and California, I now run Abstruse Apparel in Fort Collins creating digital art messaging and upcycling used clothing. Join my Collaborative Message Challenge every First Friday! Submit a creative message to see turned into apparel or digital art. Selected designs will be on display and the winner can pick up the item for FREE! Visit Funktional: A Space For Radical Reuse on 1228 W. Elizabeth Street to see my work. Let's change the world together, one stitch at a time!
Donivon Wood Fine Art // I'm very pleased to share my drawings with you. I am a self-taught artist that has been drawing and painting since I was 5 years old. Pencil work has been my preferred medium because of the level of detail that can be achieved. Throughout my life, I've had so much fun drawing that an estimated 90% of my work has been gifted to whoever commissioned it. Art has definitely been a constant source of joy in my life, and it's my mission to share it with those who love it. I have always specialized in graphite and charcoal pencil drawings. Lately, I've added colored pencils and pastels into the mix. My most current works have been portraits of pop culture, music, and sports icons who either I personally admire, or was commissioned to do. I love creating commissioned drawings for people. The personal satisfaction I get when I hear or see how much the work brightens up their life helps confirm that this is part of my purpose.
Paula Harrison // Intentional experimentation is an important part of my process. Experimenting with materials and techniques allows an artist to uncover a path to their original intention. The beauty is that you can discover many things along the way to your goal. This remains a big part of what I do in my own work; it’s often a meander not a straight line. For me, painting is also a spiritual practice. I learned along the way that images are a means to access experiences of awareness and consciousness that can only be accessed non-verbally. Creating images that are open-ended enough to allow dialogue, to allow personal meaning to develop, is a great joy. I taught art for twenty years in the public school. If you are interested in investigating how making art can open up your world, contact me.
Hypnagogist // Hypnagogist is multimedia visionary artist hailing from Columbus, Ohio, specializing in 3D animation, traditional painting, art installations, and mixed media fusions of the aforementioned works. Hypnagogia is the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, and Hypnagogist's work reflects that with colorful and surreal imagery, pulling from conscious and unconscious states.
Amy Powell Art // Walking through the woods with my daughters, we don’t make it more than a few feet before one of them stops to admire a rock/leaf/acorn. They admire even the plainest pieces of nature and inspire me with their awed eyes. I create art that expresses the sacred feminine and the beauty of the natural world. I flow between large scale oil paintings and delicate watercolor illustrations and feature portraits, animals, and natural elements such as mushrooms, moths, feathers, and bones.
Hannah Brook // Hey, I’m Hannah. I have loved art for as long as I can remember and have experimented with many different mediums. I’m currently pursuing a career as a tattooer. I have enjoyed making pendants out of my extensive crystal collection, making wood burning art pieces, and painting with watercolor and acrylics. Fantasy, sci-fi and nature are a constant inspiration for creating a little world of my own with my art.
Ryan Stover // Ryan's vivid watercolors and complex ink drawings celebrate the beauty of nature and the paradox of human experience. Ry's work is overflowing with energy and colors that are wild and free – yet bound and balanced by bold black lines. His work is a visual meditation on holding on and letting go: Going with the flow... while being aware of doing so.
MTN Goddess Ceramics is a small, women owned Pottery business created by Madi Nigro. All ceramics in the shop have been hand thrown, carved and glazed by Madi. Growing up in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains, Madi has fond memories of rock climbing, hiking, and exploring nature. Focusing on ceramics that spark joy, self confidence and inner love, each product is handcrafted with care, making no two pieces the same.
A_boldartist // I am a self-taught artist continuing to enhance and adapt my skills through time. Most of my work is a form of art therapy using imaginative symbolism combined with realistic depictions of animals, anatomy, and nature. I'm revered for animal portraits and have been commissioned for several family pet portraits. However, I also enjoy showing a bit of my humorous side through my artwork painting ornery characters. I hail from Columbus, Ohio but now based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Mossy Cows // mossy cows is run by Miriam, a local laguna artist who loves all things fantastical, cute, and pink! you can often find her admiring shiny rocks, or curled in bed doodling away with her kitty cat, doodles.
Kim Nigro // I am a retired school teacher who works in a meditative and natural organic frame that reminds us of the beauty of life. I paint Goddess Artwork to promote the diversity and strength of women all over the world while reusing and reinventing things such as canvas and paint. My paintings include recycled paint and canvas representing the perseverance of women as they struggle to be free. My most often works use motivational words and imagery, sealing the thoughts into the message of the painting in hopes of inspiring those who view the work. I invite you to vie these abstract energy paintings and share how you experience life now and how it may look in the future.
Gray Harrison // Photograper. Musician. Bicycle Mechanic. Gardener. Traveler. Lover of life.
Simply Elcee // I am an artist with a lifelong passion for all things crafty. Over the past five years, I have made Fort Collins my home, finding inspiration in the natural beauty and vibrant arts scene of the city. Through a variety of mediums including art prints, cards, and apparel, I am trying to capture the essence of the world around me I am excited to share my art with the community and invite you to explore my work and join me on my creative journey!
The Goblin Den // Hi, my name is Zora. My work includes collage, decoupage, and other visual arts. I began collaging when the collective existential crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic motivated me to explore artistic outlets. The creativity inspired by the randomness of thrifted, secondhand, and found objects is essential to my work and aligns with a personal commitment to walking on this Earth as gently as possible.
