SAY HELLO TO THIS MONTH’S
Guest ARTISTS
Alexa Messenbrink - Freedom and Flow Designs // My name is Alexa and I play with pretty Earth candies and shiny wire to make unique and wearable art! I have been making jewelry for 10+ years now, and have been wire wrapping since 2018. My art is my complete passion. My jewelry is meant to stand out from the rest of the crowd, never to be duplicated, never to be seen anywhere else other than the wearer themselves. I make art that is unique as you are.
Lucas Archuleta // Hey there I'm some dude who can draw stuff. For the most part, ink illustrations are my go-to. Thus far, I've found comfort in a colorless world, focusing heavily on the detail and line work. I’m pretty driven by my emotions when creating a piece most of the time, but I also draw inspiration from stuff that I just think is neat. I hope you’ll give my weird little drawings a gander.
Memento Vivre Fine Arts // My name is Chris and I am a queer artist with an interest in sustainability. I produce linoleum prints, acrylic paintings, clothing, and wall decor. My visuals focus on illustrative styles, and I love subjects such as insects and skulls. Running Memento Vivre has given me a wonderful outlet for my creative endeavors, and I love that it has allowed me to become part of the art community of Fort Collins.
Abstruse Apparel // Retired wood shop teacher from New York and California, I now run Abstruse Apparel in Fort Collins creating digital art messaging and upcycling used clothing. Join my Collaborative Message Challenge every First Friday! Submit a creative message to see turned into apparel or digital art. Selected designs will be on display and the winner can pick up the item for FREE! Visit Funktional: A Space For Radical Reuse on 1228 W. Elizabeth Street to see my work. Let's change the world together, one stitch at a time!
Wild Earth Lab // As an illustrator and trained environmental scientist, Valerie is a bit obsessed with trying to present the complexity of the natural world in a coherent and beautiful way. By incorporating her artwork into scientific diagrams and educational materials, Valerie seeks to share a view of nature through the eyes of a scientist.
Hypnagogist // Hypnagogist is multimedia visionary artist hailing from Columbus, Ohio, specializing in 3D animation, traditional painting, art installations, and mixed media fusions of the aforementioned works. Hypnagogia is the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, and Hypnagogist's work reflects that with colorful and surreal imagery, pulling from conscious and unconscious states.
Amy Powell Art // Walking through the woods with my daughters, we don’t make it more than a few feet before one of them stops to admire a rock/leaf/acorn. They admire even the plainest pieces of nature and inspire me with their awed eyes. I create art that expresses the sacred feminine and the beauty of the natural world. I flow between large scale oil paintings and delicate watercolor illustrations and feature portraits, animals, and natural elements such as mushrooms, moths, feathers, and bones.
Hannah Brook // Hey, I’m Hannah. I have loved art for as long as I can remember and have experimented with many different mediums. I’m currently pursuing a career as a tattooer. I have enjoyed making pendants out of my extensive crystal collection, making wood burning art pieces, and painting with watercolor and acrylics. Fantasy, sci-fi and nature are a constant inspiration for creating a little world of my own with my art.
Ryan Stover // Ryan's vivid watercolors and complex ink drawings celebrate the beauty of nature and the paradox of human experience. Ry's work is overflowing with energy and colors that are wild and free – yet bound and balanced by bold black lines. His work is a visual meditation on holding on and letting go: Going with the flow... while being aware of doing so.
MTN Goddess Ceramics is a small, women owned Pottery business created by Madi Nigro. All ceramics in the shop have been hand thrown, carved and glazed by Madi. Growing up in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains, Madi has fond memories of rock climbing, hiking, and exploring nature. Focusing on ceramics that spark joy, self confidence and inner love, each product is handcrafted with care, making no two pieces the same.
A_boldartist // I am a self-taught artist continuing to enhance and adapt my skills through time. Most of my work is a form of art therapy using imaginative symbolism combined with realistic depictions of animals, anatomy, and nature. I'm revered for animal portraits and have been commissioned for several family pet portraits. However, I also enjoy showing a bit of my humorous side through my artwork painting ornery characters. I hail from Columbus, Ohio but now based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Kim Nigro // I am a retired school teacher who works in a meditative and natural organic frame that reminds us of the beauty of life. I paint Goddess Artwork to promote the diversity and strength of women all over the world while reusing and reinventing things such as canvas and paint. My paintings include recycled paint and canvas representing the perseverance of women as they struggle to be free. My most often works use motivational words and imagery, sealing the thoughts into the message of the painting in hopes of inspiring those who view the work. I invite you to vie these abstract energy paintings and share how you experience life now and how it may look in the future.
Gray Harrison // Photograper. Musician. Bicycle Mechanic. Gardener. Traveler. Lover of life.
Alejandro Alonzo // Alejandro was raised in Tampa, Florida, and lives in Fort Collins, Colorado. Alejandro specializes in silver gelatin prints based on styles influenced by decisive moments, portraits, landscapes, and studio work. Come learn about his culture and style through the collection of his hand-crafted prints developed in his darkroom.
Brenna Aldrich Art // Hello! My name is Brenna. I create artwork in a variety of mediums including painting, woodburning, photography, digital illustration, and graphic design, which is what my degree is based in! Despite the medium, I am consistently inspired by the life cycles, efficiency, and balance found in nature as well as the surrealistic and nostalgic elements of folklore and fantasy. My aim is to help find, grow, and cherish my inner imagination without personal limitations and hopefully help others to do so, too!
Mushmonkie // Mushmonkie is a lesbian owned sticker business created from my love of stickers. I craved silly and funky designs, and when I couldn’t find many I decided to make my own! I love to work with bright colors and niche themes. With lots, and lots, of clowns and monkeys!
Cameron Kinchen Design // Hello there fellow weirdo! My name is Cameron but my friends call me Cam. I’m a multidisciplinary artist passionate about graphic design, screen-printing, illustrating, animating…TLDR most things art related. I love taking on fun new projects where I can combine dispensaries and learn a cool new trick or two along the way. Currently creating weirdness out of Berthoud, Colorado.
Joey Miranda // My goal as a crafts-person is to create a culture of authenticity as people drink their tea, set the table, or arrange flowers in their home. My work is made to carry food, water, and plants. I try my best not to make work that is too intricate or detailed, and keep my prices as reasonable as I can as well in the attempt to build a functioning culture for everyone. I work with as many local materials as I can. Using local wood ash for my glazes for now, I am working towards gathering my own clay within the area of Fort Collins, and building mills to process rocks for my work as well. Another passion of mine is to work for other potters, as I appreciate the community oriented nature of folk and cooperative pottery making. I love to teach, and do so at Fort Collins Smokestack Pottery Studio.
Xavier Pereira // Xavier’s works can be characterized by punchy dabs of paint; they are motivated by personal observations and sentimental experiences shared with others- utilizing concepts that expand upon sensory impressions. Using his art as a form of meditation, he finds peace in letting the world fade away while narrowing focus on the minute details throughout the canvas. Also a mechanical engineer, he lets his experience in creative problem solving take shape in his art. This has allowed for a unique perspective across disciplines, culminating in an intuitive approach that is calculated, yet venturous.
