Workshop Overview
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn:
• Introduction to Lino Block Printmaking: Understanding the basics of relief printmaking.
• Tools and Materials: Getting familiar with printmaking tools and materials.
• Design Transfer: Techniques for transferring your sugar skull design from sketch to lino block.
• Carving Techniques: Safe and effective methods for carving your design into the block.
• Inking and Printing: Applying ink and printing your sugar skull with a flower crown on paper.
What's Included:
• All necessary tools and materials, including lino blocks, carving tools, ink, and paper.
• Each participant will receive two 3x4 lino blocks and archival cotton paper for printing.
• Protective gloves and aprons to keep you clean while you create.
• Templates Provided: Skull and flower templates will be available, but your own creativity and designs are encouraged!
Additional Information:
• No prior printmaking experience is necessary.
• Please bring any images or sketches you would like to use for inspiration. Blocks measure about 3x4" each.

• Minimum Age Requirement: Suggested minimum age is 15 years. Sharp cutting tools will be used during this workshop; it is recommended there be a confident level of hand coordination to prevent injury.
• Parent/Guardian Attendance: Minors 15-17 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign liability waiver(s) for any minor and must be present for the entirety of the workshop.
• Allergen Warning: Please be aware that some materials used in this workshop may cause possible skin irritation or potential allergic reactions. Gloves and masks will be available.

About Liz Ortiz:
Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press is a Fort Collins-based multidisciplinary artist specializing in various printmaking techniques. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photo Image Making and Printmaking, Liz has extensive experience in intaglio, lithography, woodcut printmaking, and analog black and white photography. Her passion for accessible printmaking methods, particularly relief block printing, shines through in her creative and engaging workshops.
