Refuge through Dark Times
An evening with Buddhist monk Loden Nyima, including a talk, guided meditation, and discussion.
21 November, 7pm - 9pm
The entry to Buddhism is the notion of refuge, that we are not doomed to suffering, but can be on a path of freedom, always. We have the "three jewels" of the Buddha as an outer teacher and as one's own inner wisdom, the dharma as a path, and sangha as community. As our world darkens, this can take on an even more visceral meaning, as a source of light to keep us oriented, grounded, and connected, as we care for ourselves, those around us, and those we can help. Truly, practitioners before us have kept this light burning for 2600 years, through some of the very best and worst circumstances our world has had to offer---examples that can bless and inspire us.
This evening is open to anyone curious to learn more, and very much to Buddhists seeking to strengthen our refuge though these times.
This evening will include both a talk and meditation instruction. All are warmly welcome. By donation.
